Rodeo City Music Hall
Celebrated its
8th Anniversary Award Show

This year’s award winners are:

Ron "Paw Paw" Vice - The Dorothy McElroy Award

Brad Groves- Gospel Award

Maya Brooks- Female Horizon Award

Billy Martin - Male Vocalist of the Year

Meredith Prachyl- Female Vocalist of the Year

Dick Hammonds- Pioneer Award

Lacee Turner - Vocal Single Award

Billy Martin & Michael Rose - Vocal Event Award

Jean Vice - Big Heart Award

Amber Carrington - Female Entertainer of the Year

Nathan Young - Male Entertainer of the Year

Nancy Johnson - Spirit Award

Certificates were also awarded to other entertainers for
their outstanding efforts throughout the year, as well as
those behind the scenes that make RCMH run smoothly.

One of the special awards this year was the Dorothy
McElroy Award, named for the late Dorothy McElroy. Ms.
Dorothy, as she was called, loved classic country music.
"I was so pleased to present this award to Ron Vice in
honor of Ms. Dorothy," said Karol. One of Dorothy's
favorite country legends was Bill Anderson, who she had
the pleasure of meeting at RCMH last summer before she
passed away.

Another special award went to Ms. Nancy Johnson. "Ms.
Nancy is such a special, spirited person that RCMH
wanted to honor this year," said Dyess. Johnson is known
for dancing to her favorite songs, on the front row below
the stage, before she tips a singer.

Mayor John Monaco also made a surprise visit to RCMH
on Saturday. Monaco presented RCMH with a
proclamation from the City of Mesquite, declaring
June 6, 2009 as Rodeo City Music Hall Day.
Mayor Monaco has always been a strong supporter of
RCMH and was named the 2008 Man of the Year at last
year’s award show.
